Not adopting a strong stance on background checks of refugees from the mid east could and as a point of fact has, cost both American and European lives already. Also I don't remember in any document or offer of employment that I ever saw for our interpreters any mention of guaranteed US citizenship as an incentive for serving as an interpreter.
Also if everything is in shambles and disarray who exactly is recording and producing ID papers for the folks in the war torn countries. If the national agency offices have been over run what level of confidence can a person have in the veracity of documents held by the refugees.
In my opinion not putting a strict background verification program in effect could cost far more American lives than having someone wait four months to be properly vetted.
But hey just because I like driving around and not worrying about an IED going off on my way to or from work doesn't mean you have to agree with me, just don't look for to much sympathy after you see the flash and your ears are ringing.

Weakly written garbage from those who don't understand how the process works. It took over a year to get our terp granted citizenship. If there isn't a clause in the paperwork it will be a four month delay until the people can get vetted properly.
