Threatening a major trading partner with a trade war is like threatening to pull the pin on a grenade while in a small room with them. Sure you will hurt them, but you will be on for a world of hurt too.

The wall would also help the hundreds of illegals that die each year in the desert. If they know they cannot climb it, they will hopefully turn back and go home.
