The "poor white people" are upset that the jobs have gone overseas; the areas they live in are not likely to get factories or other jobs; and there is a general malaise because it is felt that "America has been lost." Why should anyone be surprised that they gravitated to someone who speaks their language, and promises to "make America first?" The dissolution of plain old American values helps to drive this train.

Check out what Vance says about being a Marine. I feel the same about my time as a Soldier. It changed my life in a very big way.

The fact is though that coal and high-paying factory jobs aren't coming back. It sucks for a lot of people, but time marches and not everyone gets the benefits of progress.
