Not a surprise, since the NRA purposed back in October for a review on further regulation for bump stocks.
But you know, the real danger isn't bump stocks, but, the chainsaw bayonet......

How? By what authority? What did bump stocks have to do with the events in Florida?
Here we go again...

Are they going to ban rubber bands, because you can do the same thing with a rubber band

How? By a simple regulatory based on the 1936 act The definition they use now is simply a regulation and wording in the statute and can be interpreted multiple ways. Have you looked at either the statute or AFTs interpolation of it?

But isn't it a pretty brilliant PR move? I have to hand it to whoever came up with it. The left will see it as doing something, the right will see it as not much of a threat. I was kind of impressed they thought of it. I'm not being cynical, I know it's low-hanging fruit (some of these guys here on RP educated me just a little last week), but you are right, not much to do with the events in FL at all.

His advisors may see this as low-lying fruit to appease gun control side that has little impact on the industry. They probably only sell a few thousand of these at $250 so that's small change to the gun lobby.

SFC William Farrell - In a sense yes. In a sense no. The NRA etc position for a very long time has been any regulation restricting add on devices intrudes on second amendment rights. I am only making the point President Trump's new agenda seeks to make illegal possession, transport, sale, and/or use of any add on device that increases rate of fire of a semi-auto weapon to essentially full auto rates. The NRA position is that any such regulation will ultimate lead to regulations making assault like weapons illegal. Warmest Regards, Sandy :)

I'm not attached to it at all. Its a novelty item, I can find a better stock for less. Plus you can make your AR fire the same way with no modifications.

Banning a bump stock can (and will) open up a whole can of worms. First, ban novelty items, next, make the trigger assembly parts illegal.

If there was a bit of concern for the children, the armed deputy would have upheld his oath to protect and serve.
