Trump needs to understand two things;
1. Not everything can be bought.
2. The days of one nation buying another is far past.

He's not the first President to have the idea.

And as usual, while the Trump bashers keep focusing on simply bashing Trump, there’s more to the story.

Maj Kevin "Mac" McLaughlin - I guess that's my point. When he first talked about going to Denmark, he clearly said that buying Greenland was just a side-note, not an important part of the visit. He downplayed it. Then, when he found out it wasn't going to happen, he scrapped the whole trip... that means that the Greenland WAS a big deal - and not a side note.

Maj Kevin "Mac" McLaughlin - I think the world has seen the writing on the wall. America is today's lone superpower. Tomorrow, it doesn't look like it will be. Selling off to America now would be to sacrifice potential gains in the future.

You do realize the China has been trying to get their hooks into Greenland as well? That's a shame that you have a pessimistic view of where the US will be in the near future, but perhaps you should look at what Trump's intent here is vs ridiculing it. Strategically, Greenland is important to the US. This is why Truman tried to buy it in the past. I could care less about why Trump cancelled the trip to Denmark. They aren't exactly a victim of some sort here.
