SP5 Mark Kuzinski While at Ft Carson in 1972, I rode w/ SFC XXX to the PMO, after which he expressed relief about registering 16 guns. Leaving there he said he did not attempt to register the stainless steel Browning 9 mm. Responding to my why? he said it doesn't have a serial number and 'they' told him he could 'keep' it after the mission. Phoenix program?

Thanks for civil affairs history of South Vietnam lesson SP5 Mark Kuzinski.
It is always interesting when US missions are named in another language - in this case Vietnamese.
1. Le Loi program was an intensified civic action campaign intended to repair the damage done by the enemy’s offensives earlier in the year and to return control of the rural population to the Saigon government.
2 Phuong Hoang (Phoenix) program, a hamlet security initiative run by the Central Intelligence Agency that relied on centralized, computerized intelligence gathering to identify and eliminate the Viet Cong infrastructure–the upper echelon of the National Liberation Front political cadres and party members.
The Phoenix became much more famous because it was more sinister:-)
