This day seemed to have been a good operational day for US forces in and around Vietnam SP5 Mark Kuzinski. Success in the air campaign known as Operation Linebacker I and having our naval ships getting close enough to Haiphong port area to shell it and then destroying the response force of North Vietnamese patrol and then leaving the area relatively unscathed were both great accomplishments.
I expect further south ground forces were engaged in many areas and lives were lost and other service member lives were changed forever as a result.

This offensive operation came to motivate the North Vietnamese officials to agree to a peace in the talks going on in Paris.
