Oh look pesky facts...these are not SOLDIERS...these are civilians, recruits not yet to the FIRST step in training, discharged due to ineligibility to go forward in the system.

"The Pentagon said Friday that there has been no policy change since last year, when Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said no one could enter basic training without completion of a background investigation."

That is totally unfair to me. What are these immigrants supposed to do now?

Also these people were already contributing, isn't that one of the things We were looking for in Immigrants ? The US Government has had enough credibility issues as it is without promising people things then taking it away even though they upheld their end of the enlistment contract.

SMSgt Lawrence McCarter - That is Exactly what we are looking for in the immigrants: contributing. No one should be promised anything; only to have it taken from them.

No policy has changed. They failed background checks and were booted just like any of us would have had we lied on our background checks.

SMSgt Lawrence McCarter - So, the editors at AP thought it would be better to push this story, rather than the truth. Surprising then, that the truth (people not doing their jobs) is just as damaging to the administration. But, I guess we have passed the point long ago that the press actually knows how to research and write a story....

LT Brad McInnis - I sure can't argue with that point. Its a shame You have to research everything they say to see if the story is even complete or valid in the first place.

SMSgt Lawrence McCarter - The glass half full part of me thinks it is better that people actually do their own research instead of just taking everything as truth. The problem is the majority of the people don't want to do the research...

LT Brad McInnis - Not even that, Brad. Most just read the headline/title and rarely actually read the content of the article and take the headline/title as gospel. But then again, since there is so much information overload from too many conflicting points of view with the headlines only being read and then most form an opinion and really do not realize that it is based on a falsehood to begin with.
