I saw a reasonable explanation in the discussion under the site: Basically, the European nations have their pick of any tank crew and any tank nationally, so of course they pick their best. The US has to pick from what's available there locally in theater, which isn't always the top crew or best tank.

Well, hasn't that always been the case? I might have a better concept except I wound up at Infantry Training School instead of Fort Knox. Thanks to my lyin' A$$ recruiter.

Good read, but the only thing I got out of it wasn't who won or lost, but the fact that the Army and maybe the military as a whole has lost touch with the basics, looking for technology to do what has to be done by humans at times. Infantry and Armor should train together, but it hasn't happened in large quantities being there isn't much road that could support 60+ tons of Abrams in the Stan. Had this happened before 9/11, when we were still fighting a "war" based around land taken by Russia, the results more than likely would've been vastly different.
