It always pinpoints GPS and no way to track private. You could make them disconnect from the Internet and post what you have done. Hard to police however.

Maj Marty Hogan They will have to find a way to keep this info off the interweb or ban them. This is a direct violation of OPSEC especially if there is a way to track patrols in real time.

LCDR (Join to see) - I know there is a setting that track real time on the Garmin and sends to a monitor- it normally posts after a run when I use mine. I never used it over seas- with the exception of last year in Kosovo. You have the option of posting or not- I am not real familiar with fitbits- I know they have ot come off in meetings now for the same reasons.

LCDR (Join to see) Even Set to "Private" May Not Do The Trick. Remember a Cell Phone is a Small Portable Radio Transmitter and the Vast Bulk of what I did involved spying on any and all Radio Transmitters. It Can provide a Lot of Information that You May Not be Aware of. Anytime it is On it is Providing Telemetry Data at the Very Least to the Nearest Cell Towers and Someone Like Me if I am Close Enough.

LT Brad McInnis - I Remember the CHENG on that Last Turn in to the Strait of Juan de Fuca, We were Powering Down the Equipment but saw this Neat Spike on the O-Scope so of Course we Dialed it in. It was the CHENG on the 03 Level just Outside My Office, right beside one of My Antennas with his Cell Phone calling the Mrs, CTM1 and Myself went outside and got on Either Side of Him "What? What? Oh S**t You Didn't" We Just Pointed at the Antenna.

LCDR (Join to see) I could not read the story as they wanted $ and want me to subscribe. But I get the jist of the story just from the headline. I can't imagine them even allowing such devices in a war zone. But, there were no cell phones in my day, so I have no clue what the rules are, but I know that even in my day we had EMCON rules, at sea.
