Okay I understand you ticket him, he will get fined by a Judge and you ensure he stops selling. But I don't think you take his money, first how does the officer know what was his cash before he started selling and how much was made from illegal sales of "hot dogs".

First time I read this story on FB yesterday I thought it was a joke. Then I watched the video and thought this can't be happening. There's no justification for this. The city has an ordinance that allows law enforcement to confiscate any proceeds from a vendor selling without a permit and give him a ticket that will also come with a fine. What the hell is a matter in our country? Free market and opportunity are very loose terms these days.

I just find it Ironic that a city that thinks you don't need to prove your a citizen, demand you prove you are allowed to sell hotdogs.

CPO (Join to see) - One has nothing to do with the other. From their perspective, they welcome immigrants looking for opportunity and willing to contribute as long as they follow all the other rules. "You're an immigrant? No problem. You want to sell stuff? You just need to buy a permit first." A legal citizen that is a vendor selling without a permit would have received similar treatment under the same city ordinance. My problem is with the asset forfeiture not that the vendor is an immigrant.

MAJ James Woods - I agree the Asset Forfeiture is the primary concern, I don't know this guys legal status and wasn't claiming he is an illegal, I was just saying the City and State don't want to enforce federal law ... unless they can make money off of it. I question their local laws and rules, why should anyone follow them if they wont follow them? I just love the Irony of all of this.
