There are so many cheap masks out there with a single layer of flimsy fabric that have been allowed to flood the market. I'd say the majority of the masks I see are completely inadequate by any standard either in fabric choice or fit.
My own masks are a three layer Olson style mask that conforms to my face well enough that the air I breathe I actually going through the mask rather than around the edges. The outer most layer is a fabric with anti-viral properties called BioSmart that attaches to a part of chlorine bleach when washed with it and then basically kills anything the bleach would kill. The middle layer is a high quality quilting cotton. The inner most layer is a moisture wicking performance fabric. I used to work 50 hours a week at Amazon wearing my masks comfortably because that performance fabric prevented that muggy feeling you can get from working hard wearing a mask.

I support all good ideas in an effort to mitigate the virus. Wearing multiple layers of a mask is probably not a bad idea. However for me it just isn't very practical. So far the measures that I have taken have sustained me very good. Hoping to get an appointment for the vaccine soon. Keeping my fingers crossed.

There indeed is a balance between practical and safe -- good luck in getting in the vaccine line
