The Army has been wearing their rank on their chest for over a decade and I’ve never heard this gripe.
I do think that rank on the chest is stupid though. It makes it really difficult to see. I’ve definitely saluted petty officers because all I saw was an eagle, so I automatically thought colonel.
It needs to go back to the way it was in BDUs. Enlisted wore rank on both collars and officers wore rank on one and branch on the other.

The rank in the middle, without branch, was Army Chief of Staff GEN Schoomakers circa 2005 every soldier a pentathelete thing. I personally did not like it. Having branch onthere was a matter of pride. Especially in a Cavalry unit. Also feel like the warrants losing the squashed bug set us back too. Would like to see branch come back, even to the Bs.

Kind of like back in 1992 when some yahoo with rank decided to change MAC (Military Airlift Command) to AMC (Air Mobility Command); you would think it would have made more sense to keep the AMC acronym and just call it Mobility Airlift Command.
I personally liked the NWU III with the rank on the sternum and on the cover - wore them for the 8 years I was an officer in the Navy. - by the way the emblem on the enlisted is a Crow.

They aren't the only ones with that placement and I, for one, do not like it. Put rank on collar or sleeves.
