UPDATE: Air Force plane from Oklahoma makes emergency landing at Lincoln Airport

Anything man made mechanical has a life expectancy and will eventually fail. Fortunately safe guards have been installed to notify of failures. Fortunately operators have the option to either relay on those safe guards and respond to them or ignore them depending on the severity of the alarm. In this case the crew knew what it had to do and responded properly.
