Let's look at it another way? what if Retirees could apply for approval and receive a "card " to carry on base... Like a CCW! prove you still got what it takes and get your card. Not only the retirees but all members who want to carry. because a sailor in an admin clerks office probably isn't as well trained as say a soldier operating in the Ranger regiment.

Just my 2 cents.

I disagree...not because I am a retiree but because it is wrong. If you have been trained and meet the standard the then you have been trained and meet the standard. I carry an enhanced conceal which means I can carry pretty much darn near anywhere exception an installation. I work on a base and me and my wife routinely travel on the weekends and some overnight getaways. If I want to carry, I have to go home, get the weapon and then leave versus leaving from work.

Why in hell would you want to restrict the moral and constitutional right of a military retiree to defend thenselves anywhere? Defend your opinion by logically explaining why keeping bases as "gun-free zones (read target rich environment) is any more morally reprehensible than any other gun-free zone off base. Don't forget: "When seconds count- the cops/MP's are only minutes away" applies everywhere.
