PO1 William "Chip" Nagel
I have only one good Depleted Uranium Story: On the California coming out of the Yards, 2 of our Nuclear Engineering Officers went for their Period TLD (Dosimeter also called Tiny Little Dick) reading and it pegged out. Never good on a Nuclear Ship. The started combing Engineering with a Geiger Counter looking for a Nuclear Leak. Nothing, Nada, Squat. Then they went to their Berthing Compartment. Low Readings near the floor but as they panned up the Geiger Counter went Spastic coming from the Ventilation. During that Last Yard Period when they put the Superstructure back together they combined the Ventilation for their Berthing with that from the CIWS Magazine, Depleted Uranium. Oops. Yeah had to be fixed.
