The U.S. Air Force has deployed B-52 long-range bombers to the Middle East for the first time since the Gulf war ended over 25 years ago to begin striking the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, officials said Saturday.

CPT (Join to see) let the reign of bombs fill ISIS minds body and soul, in the name of freedom and liberty for all. Glad to know the B-52 long-range bombers are in the A-O. Sweet indeed!

SP5 Christine Conley - I'm not USAF but I'm pretty sure B-52s have the capability to deploy ordinance that is much more sophisticated than unguided ordinance. A USAF type could probably chime in on what they can do now.

SP5 Christine Conley - At one time that was about all they were good for but now the B-52 carries a very mixed bag and can selectively utilize just about all of their load.

1stSgt Eugene Harless - They have capability to do both, but shock and awe is still very effective. Usually when they bring the heavies in it is all geared towards a tremendous show of force- whether it be concentrated or spread out. The intent is normally the threat of devastation and could be the catalyst to bring someone to the peace table. My opinion here is there is no peace in someone that doesn't believe in our way of life.
