The US has deployed long range bombers to Norway for the first time. Four B1 bombers will be operating out of Oland Air Base over the next few weeks.
It's being seen as a message to Moscow that the US is ready to defend its allies in the strategically contested Arctic region, which is rich in oil and gas. Under international law the North Pole and the ocean surrounding it are not owned by any country.

Neat post. Needs more depth however. Global warming is going to create a lot of changes in the artic. Since I spent nearly 10 years in a winter warfare unit--give me my due on this subject. Global warming is something that Putin has grasped and our vaunted pro-military republican's can't even admit to or talk about other than to say it's not happening. LMFAO over this one. I very highly suggest you look into Putin's huge push on Northern Operations and his artic fleet. As for our artic fleet--ah, we don't have one.
