Replicating life in space fresh02 is generated by vegetation, air water waste are all recycled. Once per year supplies for new or next stage experiments are delivered. As i understand it the "seal 'em off" experiments failed because:
A) oxygen problems
B) biome plants/animals died off
C) the researchers' constant squabbles

It is still 100% operational, many lessons learned each lesson is evolved into the next cycle, afterall there are no 2nd chances in space.

200 days in that kind of environment? I suppose that's probably the closest thing to being on a submarine for about that long continuously. Very interesting!

A sub "scrubs" it's atmosphere chemically... these folks are shooting for sustainable atmosphere generation using plants... a first step, true, but i believe that was the primary failure of our Biosphere project...
