I grew up with the Cuban Missiles Crisis during the 60's in California and I remember all the Niki Missiles in the ready position in Long Beach Calif. There were duck uncover drills all through Kindergarten to 1st grade. I'm glad its over. I would like nothing more then to visit Cuba but the question is is the Government prepared for Western Visitors? The worse thing that could happen is for the people to get educated by outsiders. Are their any agreements between the United States and Cuba for legal issues? Before anyone goes to Cuba a smart thing would be to understand the laws. Their society is not an open one. I would like to hear from lawyers on this one.

Just ask a Canadian, or a Brit, or anyone else from Europe. They have been vacationing in Cuba for decades. The US is, literally, the only country that had a travel ban in place since the 60's. It's about time we joined the rest of the world, and started trading with Cuba again.

SGT Frank Pritchett my Dad was with the 11th Marines that helped impose the blockade in 1962 during the crisis. We have definitely come a long way since then!!

I've been to Haiti and Dominican Republic, and I imagine Cuba is somewhere between the two, economically and culturally. Tough part is, the most interesting parts of Cuban history are the parts the current government doesn't want you learning about, so that's a negative. I bet prices on 1950's era cars are already going up too.

Col Joseph Lenertz I am adding it to the bucket list! Gotta go. I think I will wait a bit until they shake out the cobwebs, which probably means that it will definitely be more expensive!

I am going to play wait and see for now. If they start detaining Americans randomly then no. If they don't then I would really like to see it.

SGT David T. so you jumped straight to the detention concern, huh? The damper had to come in from somewhere. Great point though --- I am with you on that one actually!!

COL Lee Flemming - I will say it's more caution than anything else. Unfriendly countries seem to resort to detention so it is better to see how it plays out first.
