Good point. Weren't we flying B-2 missions to Iraq from their base in MO, refueling on the way?
My guess is this is probably more of a psychological operation. I was with an artillery battalion which had M109 Paladin's. Even though their conventional firing range is ~11 mi, the BC opted to drive them to the JSS a few miles from base just as a show of force ("We're Americans and we have big guns. Everyone make sure you get a good look"). I suspect the same thing is happening with the B-2's.

Response times. Flying from Guam to North Korea vs flying from Missouri to North Korea. And it is a show of force.
