LTC Stephen F., As far as the ICBM community is concerned, this test launch is business as usual. This is a regular occurrence to verify the capabilities of the weapon system.

The Russians still have more balls when it comes to "saber rattling". At least they used it against ISIS, rather than cowering over offending the enemy.

I remember going to Vandenberg AFB as a boy scout. Our Scoutmaster was a LTC in the USAFR. We were able to see a large solid fuel missle stage on its side being maintained. We had to take watches off and I can't remember if the solid fuel smelled like fish. This was in 1975. I did not know that the missles we have are out of production. I do, on occasion, go to Malmstrom AFB, a missle mainteance base that maintains the ICBMS in Montana and stay at their Air Force Lodge. I live about 8 hours away north from the border with Montana.
