It would seem that we are going that direction again. I always thought it was dumb of the previous Administrations to focus on “small war” military applications at the cost of fighting other super powers. Seemed very shortsighted.

In general our military seems to only be able to focus on the immediate at the expense of the future SMH

We also need to purge the services of "careerists" and risk averse commanders. War is inherently messy. I don't care how good officers or NCOs are, they cannot predict every possible outcome of a combat decision. People are killed in war ... our service members, the enemy and civilians. You cannot always be looking for a junior officer or NCO "scapegoat" every time some Op goes sideways. We also need to remove the press from the field of battle. I don't care how much they scream, they always violate OPSEC and 99% of them damage morale by their biased reporting. I never will forget when "Howitzer Recoil" (CNN's Wolf Blitzer) walked that SCUD missile onto the barracks of a PA ARNG Quartermaster Unit. Even if we cannot rid ourselves entirely of these leeches, at least we can eliminate the embedded reporters. News outlets who undermine the war effort are not reporters, they are the enemy's mouthpiece. They need to be banned from anywhere remotely close to the action. Though many or most may disagree, I do not see this as a 1st Amendment issue. We do not have the right to know anything and everything! Military operations are by their very nature classified to prevent enemy countermeasures. The general public does NOT have the right or the need to know how we are achieving our military goals; only that we are ... and that from a distance.

Spending billions for global warming threats, under President Obama, is a valiant effort even though Mother Nature says the Earth is warming between ice ages no matter how much CO2 we pump into the ground or no matter if we make cars get 100 miles per gallon. We need to upgrade our military and focus on the mindset of our adversaries such as Iran, China and Russia trying to rival Us in the global Military Arena. I see that we are converting mechanized infantry to armored units. That is a good sign. We have to worry not about the Fulda Gap but about a Russian Blitzkrieg into our three newer NATO countries of Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania. The US Air Force needs to get their head out of their fifth point of contact and not think of the super Tucano airplane or some other light playing it looks like a sky Raider is going to stop a mechanized Armored Division from Russia. We need to put squadrons of A-10 Warthogs and Scotland and in the UK. If we're going to rearrange in the B-52 to fly until I become 100 years old, then they need to put money back into the A-10 Warthog instead of squandering it on the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter and it's vertical take-off and Landing variants like the F-35 Bravo junk model. The Army now is going to come out with your army combat Fitness test which I feel will make the US Army lose about three divisions of fat bodies. This is still going to hurt retention because our present generation doesn't like being physically fit like they used to be. Hopefully, this do Administration will inject the money to get our military back to where it should have been before sequestration. My fear is that the monies being squandered by the Air Force on gee whiz projects. My fear is that in the next War , the super Tucano and the F-35 are going to be shot down in droves and that Pilots will be captured or killed and soldiers and Marines will die because of poor decisions we made today and 10 years ago . Just my opinion.
