we use to have our company party's over at the plantation, there was an old motorcycle up on a concrete block, then there was the beached seaplane near by, the old church but that was back in 73-74 when the only thing on the island was about 1100 Seabees and a few fleet rates. we go R&R in Bankok but you had to be on the island about 90 days before you could go. and the flights ran only 2 days a week. Wednesday's and Saturday's

PO1 Gery Bastiani Don't think You Would Recognize the Place Now UT1. Like Hawaii without the Dependents and Tourist, Very Developed (That is Unless You Like Roughing It on the East Side Plantation, Which We Did Occasionally). 3,300 Population, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Royal Marines, Royal Police, Seabees, BOSS Contractors (Filipinos) Great Duty.

yeah bet you had A/C barracks, we live in 13 Sea Huts and rode the cattle car back and forth from our camp to the shop. when we got there we had a large generator in camp for power and a desalination plant for our fresh water. we didn't get island power until our last month there. then MCB-10 relieved us July of 74
