Would it be worth it even if it cost too much money to fix the Aging ships that are in the reserve Fleet such as these LHA that require overhauls? Can these ships be back online and six months instead of waiting two or three years for a brand new ship? We've already wasted 165 billion on unreliable F-35 planes when we could easily take our older F18s and f-16s that are in the Boneyard and fix them up and get them flying again. Same analogy should be able to be used for putting ships back in service? Some of you have told me in the past that this is not cost-effective we're not talking cost Factor here we are talking time. What do you think rallypoint Navy experts?

Gator Navy & support vessels shouldn't be a big deal... it's the combatant vessels that would be expensive to bring online... not the hulls so much as the widgets & gadgets that have come out since they were retired. And of course, modernizing the business end of things. Just my humble opinion...

Quantity vs quality. Are they going to deploy effective fighting machines or targets?

We might face a maritime conflict if China gets aggressive. I fear, though, that Taiwan is quickly lost due to China's buildup & the response time we would have to defend.

CPT Jack Durish - right. I was wondering about China's island armada. I wonder what they have on them. Haven't seen too much on them since the initial stories when they were being built. Wonder how far they are from Taiwan, and what kind of defense can be put up against an outreach like that. Not like you have to worry about it encroaching on your shores, but as an extension of an attack, they could be potent. I just don't know what they're packing, you know?
With 3 carrier groups in the NK region, we could respond pretty quick right now, if the worst were to come to fruition.

Sgt Wayne Wood - I have not. I have a childhood friend that moved there because his family owned an American School there, but he never mentioned anything like that. Of course, that was in the 80s, though...lol
