Not a surprise. We rubbed their nose in it and they feel a need to regain their stature in the region. Hopefully our AF and equipment is up to the challenge.

Considering Russia has nothing serviceable that can answer the F-22, I'd say we're pretty solid.

While theSu-30SMis a very capable fourth generation fighter, it stands no chance against the Raptor. Here's why:

Their T-50s (5th Gen) could stand a chance, but:
1. Aren't as capable as the Raptor, and
2. Are still over a year away, at least, from being operational.
4th Gen fighters could stand a chance against a Raptor... either sheer luck, or zerg tactics (throw a squadron at it) to force it into a visual range dogfight, or at worst, run it out of ammo. Which, of course, means half the squadron is a flaming wreck on the ground.
That also assumes the Raptor is flying alone. If Jurassic Park has taught us anything, it's that Raptors NEVER hunt alone.
