That squadron was my squadron when I was in the Navy. VRC -30 out of NAS North Island, Coronado California. I spent my first 4 yrs in the Navy then 17 yrs Army. It's heartbreaking knowing that 3 didn't get out before she sank.

Very much so. Spent alot of hours & sorties in those planes. How you lose 2 engines is baffling. I'm eagerly awaiting the report on this. Mechanical error, electronic failure, doubtful it would be pilot error due to location of engine shut offs on cock pit panel. You'd have to shut down each one separately.

I remember a fraternity brother who was on the USS Enterprise and he showed me his yearbook or his tour book I forget what it's called in the Navy and in the back of the memorial for all those who perished in accidents on board the aircraft carrier. The Marines know this but maybe the Army doesn't realize that the Navy does, on occasion, sacrifice a lot of men and women as part of the normal sea tour.
