SSgt Ray Stone Not sure where you got that sketchy information, cite the sources. However, stemming the flow at the source is cheaper in the long run. What this article says is the Afghan government doesn't really care about stopping the flow of opium to the rest of the world..

With their lack of infrastructure and stability, opium is their cash cow. If any of them cared to stabilize the country they could turn to their natural resources and build a fat bank account.

Opium is the cash crop for Afghanistan. Like it or not, it fuels the economy, from the growers to the field hands to the pay-off to the government officials whose job it is to stop it.

Why is the U.S. pretending to want to impede the flow of Afghanistan's opium? Just as with cocaine, heroine fuels our economy
