US will use UN veto to block any Russian sale of warplanes to Iran

The United States has the option of using it's veto power at the United Nations Security Council if Russia should decide to sell the Su-30 fighter jets to Iran. This proposed sale would need to be approved by the UNSC and a U.S. veto would block the sale.

In spite of Iran issuing a warning for the U.S. to avoid interfering with their ballistic missile program, the U.S. has sought a commitment "from eh Russians in terms of working to prohibit the transfer of technologies to Iran's ballistic missiles program." Additionally the U.S. continues to weigh the idea of renewing the Iran Sanctions Act.
