They use to use the MH-53, but the AF decided to retire it. A mistake in my opinion. Although the Marines still use their version.

Cynthia Croft - The USAF wanted to eliminate aircraft without common parts to save on maintenance and money. So the MH-60 Blackhawk was chosen as it's replacement. Age was a factor but it had updated avionics so it was compatible with NODS (night vision). The Marines still fly it and have great love for it.

Cynthia Croft - Not for the US Marines. They are probably robbing parts off of the old AF model in the bone yards to keep them flying.
