Oh, please...I know it's meant well,.I get that, and I know this is obviously gonna make.me sound like a hopeless, inveterate cynic, I suppose...I spent yrs training with, and interviewing with, those people, both while doing my allied-health doctorate before my total perm disability, and also as a resident as well before my disability was finally approved...I've also been a patient in their places multiple times, so trust me, I know more about how they do things than most normal humans, I assure all of you...all of that is just pure pollyanna nonsense on their part, a complete and total crock...I've tried to.volunteer with them, and been told to basically go take a flying leap through a rolling doughnut, more times than I can count, and I'm still trying, as I suppose it's at least something to hope I might eventually get any of them to actually help me get a chance to do...for the most part, in all truth, I found clinical care dull, boring, grinding, stultifyingly repetitive work, for which I'm obviously totally unsuited, I freely admit that...I volunteered for assisting with clinical research with them, and even that's basically taking an Act of God, and Act of Congress, a papal dispensation, a thunderbolt from Zeus, and Divine Intervention to get virtually anywhere with...they couldn't care less as a bureaucracy, I assure you...trust me, been there, done that (BTDT), or at least tried, honest...my clinical and prior technical training stuff is all very real...they couldn't have cared less, any of them, honest, beyond constant hand-wrining exercises, sympathetically listening to me plead with them for a chance to do something useful in their world beyond running urine bottles and blood samples up and down the halls, answer phones, shuffle papers, push the magazine cart or wheelchairs (the latter of which I did more than my fair share of as a "lunch-money" resident, as we called it), or basically sit there in the lobby and tell people how to find the bathrooms...I don't mean to sound cynical, as I'd said, and God knows, I really have tried with them, honest, recommends, degrees, being a for-real residency grad with them, they just simply, honestly don't care...they're so huge, so alternate universe, that trying to do anything atypical with them is the proverbial square peg (me) in the equally proverbial round hole (them), honest...I've tried longer than God's been alive, more ways than I can count...now, if any of you, or others, have a clue I've missed, I'd love to hear it, obv...short of that, I've about given up with them, other than basically pleading with them as a hobby...I'm still trying to do it with them through VA voc-rehab through their unpaid volunteer stuff, and even that's taking an Act of God as well to get virtually anywhere, honest....
