I hate medical record systems. I didn't mind AHLTA, but it always freezes. CHCS is a pain in the rear, and a headache to use. EHR kind of works, but it's better for the ER because of the patient tracking. A visually clean program that has the general ease of AHLTA (Except they need to remove the redundancy!) and the patient tracking of EHR would be greeeeeat.

I don't know what any of those are. ( & no need to explain ) but I do firmly believe that the DOD & VA should be on the same system to ease records access and proof of service connection for VA disability claims.

MSgt George Cater - They're all systems used in Army medical centers. Other services could use the same ones or some other programs they have. Ours don't talk between outpatient and inpatient systems, and none talk with the VA.

Looks Like He has a Plan ... a good one...
..."... My goal, my charge, is that we go commercial to the greatest extent possible," said Thomas. "We don't have a great track record with developing software."
Committee Chairman Rep. Phil Roe, R-Tennessee, echoed those sentiments: "This is the third major attempt to modernize VistA in the past decade," he said. "Retaining or replacing VistA is a make-or-break decision for VA and must be made deliberatively and objectively. The VA must judge VistA Evolution realistically against concrete goals. If it falls short, moving the goalposts is unacceptable...."...

I have wondered how in the world the VA system does not automatically pull the info already in the DoD system.

Shulkin and Mattis could direct it fixed and coordinated. The only reason NOT to do it is to keep a hurdle there to prevent service connection proof from being right there in the VA system to expedite (and preclude denial of) disability benefits.
It can happen. Everything else is admin details.
We need an RP member or two with contacts that could get Mattis to front burner this. I believe he's enough of a leader that he would. SSgt (Join to see)
