It became an observed day passed by Congress in 1938 known as Armistice Day, but was renamed by Congress in 1954 as Veterans' Day to be inclusive of those who served in the recent WWII. Unlike Memorial Day, we must remember it is in honor of those who have served (and even serving) that we now call veterans. Which is us. Thank you Shavonde for presenting the history lesson. It's exactly what I teach my students. Just wish all the poser-patriots running around knew what we do, and why.
