YES - There has been an "Unwritten Rule" that members of the Armed Forces can and do, brag on their Branch and often, in good Sprite, give members of other branches the devil about their branch of service, nothing derogatory, just "Funnying" and they do likewise. Example, even today, when I see someone with a cap or shirt and etc identifying their branch if different from mine, I might say to them with a smile, "Thank you for your service to America, to bad it was in the Army, Navy or so on." Of course the next question they say, What branch were you in, and when I say the USAF, they come back with something like we did so and so to protect all you FLY BOYS. After this initial exchange we we have a man to man discussion about our experiences. All in good taste and on a friendly basis, and mutual respect of each others service to America. I have met many long time friend by using this approach to complete strangers, that I have approached the first time, as I consider them all as brothers and sisters that served America.I enter the USAF in 1948, when the USAF was only 1 year old, so that figures out to almost 70 years. But back to the original question, the military people are a family, just like blood relatives, we can argue and "Fight" among ourselves, but when an outsider enters, we forget our petty issues and come together as a "FAMILY" and become ONE, with a COMMON BOND of Brothers and Sisters. May God Bless all Veterans this Veterans Day in the year of our Lord 2017. CMSGT Martin L. Chruch
