I'm a vet and I don't support him. If you want something, then earn it! Get off your duff and get it. I did and many before me did and many after me will (I hope). Nothing in this life is for free. If you want us to give you free college, then how many years after college are you going to work for free to pay it back? Someone pays somewhere. And my pockets are not for free pickins.

I think what resonates about Sanders - not just for Vets, but for a lot of people - is that he isn't a multimillionaire who is looking to trade blood for oil on a whim. Whether you like what he says or not, his words ring of honesty and integrity. He's fought for his ideals - and not money - for his whole life. He's worked to make things better for others and not just for himself. He doesn't sound like a two-faced liar, isn't a pompous ass, and has the personal courage to apologize when he thinks he's been wrong. Those are the things that draw people to him.

The first candidate I have felt really inspired by since JFK who I was too young to vote for - I was a senior in high school overseas when he was assassinated. My classmates were devastated at the news.

Instead of duplicating my post I just placed on A1C Adams question "Do you think any of the presidential candidates who are left can fix this country?" - I'll be brief. If one understands the power of the States and our hybrid Constitutional Republic, one would understand that Communism / Socialism is the antithesis of what our Constitution, government and laws represent. These ideologies are failed principles that have a wake of carnage and destruction since Plato first penned these principles in his book the "Republic."

This is why the framers rejected political energies that are centripetal in nature. They violate Natural Law and destroy individual liberty and sovereignty. I am thankful that the Democratic Party has finally openly admitted their end game is subjugation and enslavement. Unfortunately, too many people can not see this for what it is and that is why this ideology is so insidious in nature.

Again the Utopian concept is a failed one because of the corrupt nature of man. This is why Madison stated in Federalist Papers #51: If men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary. In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself. A dependence on the people is, no doubt, the primary control on the government; but experience has taught mankind the necessity of auxiliary precautions.

This is why they placed checks and balances between the three branches of the general (i.e. Federal) government and placed the States over the general government as overseers of the Contract. Which is why Madison stated in Federalist Papers # 46: Were it admitted, however, that the Federal government may feel an equal disposition with the State governments to extend its power beyond the due limits, the latter (i.e. the States) would still have the advantage in the means of defeating such encroachments.

This "advantage" Madison referred to is fundamental "republicanism" and what I refer to in my aforementioned post that the Constitution is a contract not some arbitrary guidelines.

We are dangerously close to discarding the Constitution altogether. If we continue to allow the government to usurp our liberties and sovereignty and allow the Federal government discard the Constitution we will see tyranny that make the current Federal tyranny as a passive nuisance.

Consequently, it does not matter what a person thinks is true or not, what matters is what is stated in the Contract (i.e. the Constitution) and its supporting documentation. I hope this helps and that you read my reply to A1C Adams below.

May God Bless the Republic!
