I appreciate the nod to the military, but I have no doubt it is only done as a marketing gimic to boost sales to only benefit the leagues. NFL and other pro sports get DOD "kickbacks" to "appear more patriotic"... sorry, not on board with that or the former.

I'm a Hoosier whose grandfather use to work on the Indy 500 cars. My father and brother raced cars. I drove my family's car around the track when I had a learner's permit. Best part of the Indy 500 race is the pre-race ceremonies. I view the military displays as symbols of peace, not of death. The Indy 500 pays special respect of our war history since the race occurs on Memorial Day weekend. Indy 500 is not militarizing a sporting event, it is honoring those who have served and those who never got home.
