I remember the first time I saw video taken from inside an Apache helicopter. As the operator marked his targets, selected his ordnance, and then engaged the enemy, I thought to myself, "My young son could conquer small nations with just one of these". I grew up in a mechanical world and my toys were mechanical things. Children today are growing up in a cyber world and their toys are preparing them for it. Still, there will always been a need for those with brute strength, agility, speed, and endurance as well as the training and experience to use them effectively. I'm not sure that computer games will prepare them for it but I'm sure they'll need entertainment when they return from the combat zone.

Not just situational training. Ask your surgeon if he games next time you need a procedure. You should hope he does. 37% fewer errors. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17309970.
