51 years is a very long time to wait for an award for Ron Esselstyn being wounded in combat SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL .
I am thankful that "Oregon Department of Veteran's Affairs Operations Director Ed Van Dyke began researching Esselstyn's service record and found that he was eligible for the Purple Heart" and "Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal (with two stars), Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon, Expert Badge and Marksman Badge" last year. I am glad that both Ron Esselstyn and his wife Sue were honored and that many people came out for the ceremony.
This story reminded me of our friend SGT (Join to see)
