Thanks for another haunting title SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL. The 1st BN 50th (Mech) sounds too much like my first infantry unit which was 1st BN 52nd Infantry (Mech).
Snakes fill many people with dread. There were poisonous snakes in spider holes and loos through the jungles. Some snake will slither when they sense something larger moving towards them while others will fight to defend. the snakes that were tethered in spider holes and elsewhere had nowhere to slither to and attacked whatever came within reach whether a tunnel rat or a patrolling soldier.

Was always told to watch for 'kraits', but don't remember ever seeing any.

My family has a saying "if it slithers, it dies...then find out if it was poisonous or not." So far it has worked.

After my tour of duty in Vietnam I've got to admit I don't like anything that creeps crawls or slithers.

Don't think I'd care to. I'd rather have a can of c-rats.
