This is great news for all our "Docs" from Virginia. I've known a few Corpsmen who couldn't even get a job driving an ambulance because they didn't have the licensing and/or certifications that said they were "qualified." I hope those people affected take advantage of this great opportunity.

Finally someone thinking out there. As years have one by I have witnessed great medical care from the civilian sector, but also the opposite. Many support professionals can't do the simple things like taking vitals unless they have some machine do it for them. I've seen people wait in ER's to get simple sutures done and had to wait hours for a doctor to do it where I could of done it blindfolded. There are a lot of trained HM's out there especially the IDC's (who run medical departments independently), including ALL areas. Why couldn't we get the recognition on the outside to make a living? I am an IDC, and have a MA in HC Admin. Still trying to break the ice. Lets set up a NPHCP (Non Physician Health Care Provider) certification program for transitioning military. Let them learn from us!!!

CA allows HM3s to challenge the LVN boards; down side is that only CA accepts the military equivalent candidate license. Hope the VA idea works out better.

Federal government agencies will accept any license from any state. That will at least allow you to earn a better wage while you are pursuing a degree program if that is your desire.

CPO Thomas Ewell - Chief, while you are correct those in the FED at some hiring levels are, despite the rhetoric still not veteran friendly. I have to ask since you are in Alabama (War Eagle or Roll Tide fan) which one!

Louisiana, but my heart still lives in College Station. My son and my money both went there.
