I found your article very informative CPT Matthew Feeham. You have sited specifics in regard to your review of the issues of secondary education for Active Duty, NG, and Reserves. My question would be regarding a proposed solution or feasible option to either missing class or missing training. Would it prove feasible for colleges to offer some type of program which would allow for activation for less than 30 days without penalty from the school or loss of educational benefits?
I utilized VR through the VA for my Masters Degrees so I was not faced with the issues you outlined in your law review.

Thanks for you comment, SPC Nancy Greene. My proposed solution: Congress needs to enact a federal law, similar to USERRA, that gives student servicemembers and veterans private causes of action. Further, universities need to post the complaint tools offered by the VA and the DoD on their respective webpages. Most universities and colleges share that they accept GI Bill and refer to themselves as “military friendly;” however, they don’t provide actual remedies for their student veterans and servicemembers. Cheers! Matt

Correction: ED or DoED, not “DOE.”
