This slogan, in and of itself is not good or bad. It does help shape the discussion in terms what is at stake in this election. In this case being a subject or serf is unacceptable to me and many like me. History has proven time and time again anything like gun control is but one more step towards serfdom. But that is my opinion.

LTC Thomas Tennant - This slogan adds nothing of substance to the discussion. It is bad because it is designed to illicit an emotional response, something conservative swear they don't do.

If this is your opinion, then it is a poor one.

The slogan actual irritates the Hoplophobes into an emotional response as shown. The slogan actually breaks it down into a simple example that Liberals hate.

I must not be a "hoplophobe" then, because it did not illicit any kind of an emotional response in me. You are right, 1SG Hicks, in that it makes things simpler for the conservatives to understand. Too bad it over simplifies things.

Started to watch the video, and couldn't get more than a couple minutes into it. Nothing but talking points and propaganda. If the book is anything like the propaganda video trying to sell it, then it has nothing to offer in the debate about gun control.

Mr. Wilcox, Do you even understand what the Crime Prevention Research Center is about? Most individuals that appear to have your viewpoint are always asking for a report like this book and other research material that are: •Conducting and publishing academic quality research on the relationship between laws regulating the ownership or use of guns, crime and public safety. AND •Making research and data available to researchers, the public, policy makers, and journalists.
Do you have a problem with this type of activity and research?

SSG Robert Webster - Judging by a quick look at the home page for the Crime Prevention Research Center, i would say it is all about cloaking propaganda in the guise of academic research. There is nothing about this group that could be considered non-partisan, therefore, all of there conclusions and "research" is suspect.

I have no problem with the type of activities you describe, if they are done in a non-partisan, academic, and peer reviewed way. This center is none of those.

SSG Robert Webster - And what point, exactly, was I proving for you? I saw no point to your post, other than you bought into the propaganda masquerading as an academic report. The problem is, there is nothing "academic" about this report, or the crime prevention research center.
