IMHO, this is one of the best songs to come out of the African bush Wars of the 70s.
In 1979, near the end, I visited friends in Rhodesia. The bus I was traveling on was ambushed by terrorists, and we had to fight for our lives until help arrived. It was a pretty harrowing experience. Anyway I woke up this morning with this tune running through my head and thought I'd share it with you guys and gals. ♡

I was 21 when made the audacious decision to take catch a military hop to South Africa. I had a penpal in Rhodesia and sought to visit with them. At the time it was not possible for an American to visit because of the international sanctions and travel restrictions, so I have to travel to RSA Overland to Rhodesia.

SGT David A. 'Cowboy' Groth - it was actually, punctuated by a few moments of sheer Terror during the ambush, but afterwards the remaining trip to Bulawayo was pretty uneventful. Later we traveled to Salisbury and I met a bunch of American Vietnam veterans who were fighting in the Rhodesian light infantry against Marxist terrorists. The famous War correspondent Robin Moore was there too, writing about them.
