‘Warrior caste’: Is a public disconnect hurting military recruiting efforts?

The issue is that the citizens (including those that have served) have no confidence in the ability of elected officials in this country using their authority to put our servicemen in harm's way in a responsible manner. The last invasion of Iraq has probably put a bad taste in the mouths' of the current generation of parents.

That was the question decades ago when they went "All Volunteer". The military twists itself in knots trying to ensure the right market.
