Thanks TSgt Joe C. for reminding us that in 1885 the Washington Monument which was designed by French designer Pierre L’Enfant in honor of America’s revolutionary hero and first president was dedicated in Washington, D.C.
L’Enfant Plaza exists to this day in Washington, D.C.

It has always been a great monument in my opinion. Not flashy or showy. Just powerful and resolute. Very fitting to be the monument to George Washington.
