The budget has been a continuing issue for over 10 years. If Congress can't come up with a budget, and stick to it, then fire the lot of them send them home. Require their respective States to send representatives who actually want to do their damned jobs. This has gone on far too long.
Oh by the way. If they are fired, cancel their cushy government pensions and health care programs too.

Col Jim Harmon Agreed Colonel drain the swamp all of them. Vote for non-incumbents in the primary then only those that support a strong military in the elections.

My solution would be to have the senior dem and rep in both houses automatically have to run for re-election on day one of the shut down. Every day after that the next senior and so on until we had a budget or The whole congress was up for re-election. The election would be 30 days 60 days from the shut down and no pay would be given to any rep in any elected position in the fed govt. Now back to your regular scheduled reality.

If the shut down only affected members of congress and the president, I would agree with you. Sadly, it affects all government workers. The president threw the problem with the DACA to congress and congress, knowing about this should have acted sooner. As with the budget and everything else, they always wait until the 11th hour to do anything and then it gets all screwed up. Congress has continued to "kick the can" down the road on so many things, I can't believe they still earn a paycheck.

I WISH it were that easy to fire this bunch of baboons. Republicans should be capable of running the nation but cannot even come up with a plan to find their own asses and they have both a map and a flashlight! The Democrats at least stick together as a force that opposes everything except social programs as always!

The Democrats want to shut down government to get a deal for the Dreamers? Let them. Shut it down until election day and then see what happens...

CPT Jack Durish I am more concerned with the CRs. This one will be till Feb and still not enough time to get a budget. We have not had a budge in over 8 years and that is one of the biggest problems with Military readiness today. They just continue to kick the can down the road. Drain the swamp, all of them.

LCDR (Join to see) - Amazing that the Navy leadership has said there is a direct corellation between the CR's and the current spate of Navy accidents... But, by all means, shut the government down for illegals. That is an awesome idea (HEAVY SARCASM)!

LCDR (Join to see) Continuing Resolutions are the bane of Congress. They want to use every issue as a rock to throw at our President. I agree, they need to get this budget down or we will be in serious condition militarily when the S**t hits the fan!

I guess it is hard for congress to make a decision when we have a president that flip flops on everything.

SP5 Dennis Dorsey - But the issue here is that the Nations budget has been in continuing Resolution for 10 years now and is not a Presidential issue! And a Continuing Resolution primarily hurts the Military over all other agencies for long range budgetary concerns. It can't plan for contracts nor plan for big projects this military so desperately needs when it is so unsure of it's budget. The military is not going to put out a bid nor is anybody going to put in a bid when the military has no clue if the next months budget is going to pass, fail or get cut!

You are correct in that respect and you can put the blame on both parties of congress. If we did the same on our household budget, we would be bankrupt.
