I don't know everything about the war in Afghanistan except it's a war unlike any other war we've been involved in. It sometimes seems like the "Forgotten War" as was the Korean War. It's been going on too damned long, and unless we prevail, all of the horrible deformations and the KIA's happened in vain. This war could go on another 15 years, the way it's being handled at this time and that is the truth. We've been sucked into an Abyss and nobody can tell what's going to happen in this war.

This month marks the 15th anniversary of the start of the Afghan War, which is still being fought.
On Oct. 7, 2001, the U.S. and British militaries began a bombing campaign against Taliban and al Qaeda targets in Afghanistan. Six months later, after the fall of the Taliban regime and Osama bin Laden’s escape into neighboring Pakistan, President George W. Bush, speaking at the Virginia Military Institute, evoked the foreboding history of military intervention in the so-called Graveyard of Empires, saying, “It’s been one of initial success followed by long years of floundering and ultimate failure. We’re not going to repeat that mistake.”
