I was on the Drill Team in Orlando Boot Camp. Company 223D. Back then we performed at our graduation plus two others and the Flag Team did the same. At my graduation I remember watching one of the Flag guys come to attention, he fell back and the flag fell forward. Stone cold passed out.

Kadena AB: around July 1992. 90+ degrees. Color Guard member holding the American flag (focal point of the detail) passed out at around the 45th minute of a droning, monotonic Commander's Call speech, held in a stuffy aircraft hangar. Two forward steps, then a complete face plant. Once she was recovered and taken to the hospital, there was a perfect lipstick print on the cement floor, surrounded by blood. Gruesome.

That's one way of getting out of a press conference - the good news is they are cutting back on the orders for this hunk of junk.
