As said by SFC George Smith each SM has to come up with their own way of dealing and transitioning and coping and whatever else is necessary to survive in loading dock jobs in the civilian world after coming out of combat. After combat everything in civilian life is a low to begin with and can never 'compare' to the combat experience. I would be afraid that trail running would provide the solitude and quiet where I would end up playing and replaying tapes of bad experiences in combat unless I was strong enough to focus on something else to get my mind off my military experiences. A person would have to watch the entire film to get more insights into his experiences.

I started trail running right after my second deployment back in 2009. I run with a group of veterans and it has made a big difference for me. You are correct, you need to figure out what works best for you.
