An interesting paper that I found where SECDEF correlates the relationship between AFQT and IQ-Inclusion for ‘ASVAB Back-Up Book’ (circa 1980). I do not find the results surprising by any means as the percentiles should pretty much equally correlate between scholastic assessment tests and general cognitive ability. There have been numerous studies on this very subject and the results generally point to the same thing, that the standard deviations for the ASVAB correlate well (approximately 80%) with intelligence tests such as the WAIS and Stanford Binet.

Very interesting. I always find these types of studies and their findings quite intriguing.

Thanks for the study results, I have been interested in this aspect for a long time.
As when I was in we used the old ASVAB scores (not the percentile scoring) and commisioned officers needed to score 105 GT / Warrant officers had to score 110 GT / and my score was 147 GT.
DA sent me paperwork and requested I apply for Warrant, but I prefered to keep working with the machines not be supervising from behind a desk.
